Information you give us
Contact form (name and email). When you fill out the contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent directly to Foster Hope's team via our secure intake system. This information is not stored in your browser or on your device after you submit.
County and ZIP code. When you use the county research or Pack matching features, the location information you type is sent to our AI service to generate your results. It is not saved to any database or associated with you in any way.
We do not collect payment information, government IDs, health data, or any sensitive personal information.
How we measure site usage
Foster Hope Friends sends basic usage data to the Foster Hope Command Center, our internal analytics dashboard. This helps us understand which features people use and improve the site over time.
We capture:
- Which page you're on (e.g., Home, Packs, County)
- Button and link clicks (labeled by what you clicked)
- How long you spend on a page
- Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop) and browser
- An anonymous session ID stored only in your browser's localStorage
We do not capture your name, email, IP address, precise location, or anything that identifies you personally. This data is used only by Foster Hope — it is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or marketing services.
Who else touches your data
We use a small number of third-party services to operate this site:
Google Gemini (AI). When you use the county research tool, the Pack matching quiz, or the Build Your Own Pack feature, the text you enter is sent to Google's Gemini AI service for processing. Google processes this text to generate your results and may retain it in accordance with Google's privacy policy. We do not send your name, email, or any identifying information alongside these AI requests.
Cloudflare. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare handles the delivery of every page you visit and may process your IP address as part of normal hosting operations. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
We have no relationship with advertising networks, data brokers, social media tracking pixels, or any third party whose business involves selling or monetizing user data.
No accounts, no passwords, no persistent data
Foster Hope Friends does not have user accounts. You do not create a login. We do not store a profile tied to you on our servers.
The only data stored in your browser is an anonymous session ID (used for analytics) and cached county research results (stored in your browser's localStorage so repeat lookups load faster). Both of these stay on your device and are never sent to Foster Hope in a form that identifies you.
We don't use tracking cookies
This site does not place advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies on your device. We use your browser's localStorage to remember things like your anonymous session ID and cached location results. This is local to your browser — we do not read it from a server.
If you clear your browser's site data for fosterhopefriends.com, all locally stored data is removed.
Children's privacy
Foster Hope Friends is a tool for adults who want to help foster families. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through this site, contact us at fosterhopefamily@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your information, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Because we don't store your email address, we can't notify you directly — so check back here if you're curious.
We don't anticipate significant changes: our model is to collect as little as possible, use what we collect to serve you, and share nothing.
